Let me give you a hint: The trays aren’t supposed to look like that.
I haven’t published a post in a while and I apologize. But there’s been a lot of drama at work and it’s been sapping my energy like a sump pump. There’s been drama, pathos, and tension and it hasn’t been easy, kids. Working for an airline has it’s moments of utter hell and we’re in the middle of it right now. So please accept my apology for not getting my stressed rear end over here to come up with something.
On the up side, I did manage to kill an entire day standing in the hot sun and walking for what seemed like miles to see and hear President Obama speak. Politics aside, I had never seen a sitting President speak before, so that was really kind of neat. Nan wanted to go, so I thought, “Why not?”

It wasn’t easy, but we did it. Would I do it again? Probably not. I’m glad I did it once, but damn, it was a tough row to hoe. Here is what we did a lot of. Yup, Standing in a very, very long line. Seven hours with no access to a bathroom. Or food.
So between the airline garbage, and the “Obama Drama,” the election, the flying and other assorted crap that went on, I just couldn’t haul it together to post very regularly, Happens to the best of us at times, I guess. I’ll try and be better about it from now on.
On the up side, I’m doing a “Chop Clinic” at the Bird Lovers Club in Pembroke Pines this coming Sunday, the 16th of November. I believe it begins at 1 p.m. I’ll bring the vegetables, they are providing the electricity. It’s going to be an interactive, educational and I think you’ll enjoy it. Rumor has it there will be food for humans as well. So, please join us!
I just found out that In Your Flock Magazine Publisher Sandy Lender is going to be there! If you haven’t subscribed to this new magazine, I highly suggest it. She will have information and promotional materials available about the magazine available and you can ask her any questions you might have about this new and exciting publication. I just got my “Big Jambox” out to make sure I can run it at the Chop Clinic. It’s always more fun to have music while you’re Chopping, so I had to make sure that was working the way it’s supposed to. I just love the thing! Wireless and with great sound, I’m so happy I got it.

Must be in the air …. I don’t think I’m scheduled to take a breath again until December 7. Planning to spend Thanksgiving weekend making chop, or something like it …. My kiddos aren’t eating as well as I’d like and I’m afraid it may be that they’re bored with their food. Heck, I would be. That’s why I can’t do pre-pack diet food for very long … Anyway … hang in there and if you have a chance to send on some written instructions, I’d appreciate it!
My Dad would always say, “Don’t let the Turkeys get you down. Keep Smilin’….” Sounds like pretty good advice the week before Thanksgiving …. Or any day, really …

I volunteer and foster for STAR St. Louis Avian Rescue and we just got in an African Grey that was on a really bad diet for 37 years and is now suffering the concecuenses with two broken legs. She is on the mend. You can read about her on our Facebook page if you like. Anyway, we are doing a nutrition campaign and was wondering if you had any advice on getting the word out or how to do a chop workshop?

I’ve done many of them. It takes a lot of planning and you first must define how you are going to run it, where the Chop is going, and if you want to make money doing it. Once you define the parameters, it kind of guides you as to how you are going to approach it.

Hey Kelly – Not chop related, but suggest you get some Hagen ClayCal for that Grey. We had an older ‘tiel in our rescue who had skeletal problems due to diet and egg laying – wound up with a broken leg – and vet was amazed at how quickly it healed with the ClayCal. Amazing stuff! Check out Patricia’s Chop video so you can see what’s involved. I attended the Chopalooza in Port Charlotte and it was a lot of fun… and I came home with lots of chop for my crew without having to do all the work. 😉

I swear by ClayCal! Pat it is by Living World not Hagen. Hagen promotes it though. The tiel Pat is referring to had a break up by the body and the vet was unable to do anything for it. No cast, no splint. Said if she was going to ever use the leg again I would see her putting pressure on it within ten days. By day five she was putting pressure on it, by day ten she was walking on it! The vet was amazed. She had a bum wing when she came in that had a break that had separated and never healed so we did not have a lot of expectations for her leg. She has not broken another bone since. Claycal is best used sprinkled on top of fresh foods like Chop.

That’s it! I’m moving to America! Over here we never get anything like this – or anything in general to do with pets apart from stupid Crufts. So jealous!
On the other hand I’d like to thank Patricia for the best US export ever – my birds are active, healthy, gleaming and always run over to look at whats in their bowl. And since I don’t put in any naughty treats in there I know that everything they pick out is good for them – also they end up, by accident, eating something they’ve avoided and realizing they like it. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s easy on the pocket too!
