I created a video assembled from photos sent by friends and Parrot Nation Readers from all over the place. It was a small project and I did the editing in about two days, but it was a lot of fun to put together. What I wanted to do was show you that Chop is indeed a “Concept.” As available ingredients vary from place to place and from Continent to Continent, Chop is never going to be the same.
You will also find your own Chop varying from season to season. It was a quick and dirty editing job. I didn’t have the time to spend day-after-day fine-tuning it and photoshopping it, but I made a copy so I can work on it later should I need to. You might want to keep it on the small screen as blowing it up to full size will be disappointing. I couldn’t render the images the way I wanted them as I am still learning, but it’s not bad for two days of work.
This is your Chop. Your way. From your kitchens. With your birds. Congratulations! You’re doing a beautiful job making it your own.
Here is the Video of Chop from, well, everywhere and also from many of you. Thank you to all who sent me photos. I hope you like it:

Fantastic — will share and share and share…
Loved the grey leaning over to chow down on Chop (5:05). The shots of Chop all bagged up — excellent idea.

Nice video, you did a great job with putting it together. Whenever I need some inspiration to make some Chop in the future I’ll definitely be coming back here for another view. 🙂 There were some really neat food combinations for everyone’s chop mixes; it just shows how much variation there can be between different batches.

Actually, it’s from “Napoleon Dynamite.” About as far as you can get from it. It’s a nerd flick. But the music is great!

Thank you. That says it all. I won’t bore you all the details, but I ‘rescued’ a little abused Senegal and, though I’ve always loved birds, I was afraid I had been a bit too impulsive but I couldn’t leave him in that situation. I read in one of your blogs that you told someone….”if you have the room, the time, the funds and the love”……..and I do. So I feel better about it. I have spent the last month researching like a mad woman, learning, trying to absorb everything. I’ve spent my budget for the next 3 years on toys, books, veggies, table, bird treats etc. I may have created a monster. But thank you. Thanks for the advice. I made my first batch of chop last week and the lttle oinker doesn’t stay out of it. He loves it. I think it’s perfect for him. I’ve only had him for one month and the change is phenomenal to see. He no longer rocks and screeches like a barn owl. He chirps and whistles and ‘chat’s and plays kissy kissy. He is still a little cage agressive and we are working on that. He is still afraid, but less so. I am not forcing him and he needs a vet visit, but I can’t get him into the carry cage yet. Until I can, I will do all I can to keep him healthy. We have many years to work on all this, but I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks. This is one of the best resrouces. I will use the heck out of it.
