As you might have learned from my last post, I was working a flight from Haiti to Fort Lauderdale when a 22 year-old woman decided to give birth to a baby on board the aircraft. Well! While we are trained for such a possibility, it doesn’t happen very often. But it happened to me last week. So it’s been a little nuts around here. Between writing reports, briefing Miami Flight Service about the incident and coping with News Reporters at my front door Saturday morning, I haven’t had much time to do any writing here. But I am including the CBS 4 Miami Newscast on the incident just so you understand what happened:

It was an exciting, albeit slightly messy experience. But it was a once in a lifetime thrill. (I hope!) I am proud to have been part of the team that helped deliver this baby boy into the world and also thank Cabin Service for the great job they did “tidying up the plane” to get it back into service in record time.
After witnessing this birth, I think birds have it right; eggs are a lot neater.

The ironic thing was that I had my video camera with me and just didn’t have the presence of mind to dig it out!
