Photo Courtesy of My Friend Kent Hammit Well, it’s almost here. Yup, it’s almost time for Parker to swing into full-tilt “Screaming Little Hellion” mode. I can’t wait for it to be over. Why is breeding season always so painful? Well, I’ll tell you why it’s painful to me. It’s because Parker makes my ears [...]

Dear Best Friends Parrot Garden Staff, Thank you so much for everything. I wish I could say I was lousy with words because I’m not. But this is a case where words simply aren’t enough. I hope this says more about my trip to Best Friends and my time with you than a thousand words [...]

I’m pretty good about cleaning up after my Greys. I have a slate stone floor so it sweeps and vacuums up fairly easily. Once I get after it with a mop and some really hot water, it looks as good as new. I use newspaper as a substrate on top of the grates, so those [...]

I live in Florida so I’m not referring to shoveling snow, nor am I the proud owner of a herd of cows that needs occasional upkeep. I have shoveled cow manure, but that’s another story. WHAT’S THE POINT? By Patricia Sund Having a parrot in your life is a puzzling existence. I suppose you could agree with the idea that they provide companionship just as a dog or a cat does, but why in God’s name a parrot? Where did we ever get the idea that having a parrot would [...]

One day as I idly sat and watched Parker industriously chewing on the shoelace aglet of my sneaker, I thought, “You know, somebody ought to make a toy with a pant load of shoelaces on it!” And as I thought about it, I wondered if it was possible to get somebody to put aglets all [...]
