I was going over some of my files and realized I never posted my video of Cookie the Little Penguin in the break room at the Cincinnati Zoo. I put it up at YouTube, but never posted it here. So wIthout further ado, here’s Cookie. Trust me, you will smile!
Aaawwww! What a cutie! I love penguins. They are so adorable. I never realized they are this vocal – usually I only get to see them at Sea World behind thick glass. Thanks for sharing this video!
Put this puppy on Youtube and make some money for your zoo, or since it is “home” for the little fellow, how about America’s Funest Home Videos….I must have sent his to 50 people who I know sent it to 100′s + it is on facebook….

Got to see some of these guys down in Oamaru, New Zealand last month. I think the only animal I have seen that’s comparable on the cuteness scale is the pika. I was absolutely dying laughing when I saw a couple of these little penguins mating under a park bench near the harbor at Oamaru; I was laughing so hard I was crying. I wanted to take a pic, but figured the flash would interrupt their good time (the little penguins seem to come in from the ocean after dusk).
Watching about 10-15 of these guys climb up out of the water, stop, look around, and survey the area for a minute or two, then take a few more steps, stop and survey the area, then run like hell to their nests, falling and sliding on their stomachs every few steps, was really something to see at the Oamaru (New Zealand) blue penguin colony. For anyone who wants to make the trip to go see these guys come in by the hundreds there is an added bonus of seeing the shy yellow-eyed penguins a few miles away; they start coming in from the ocean a couple hours earlier than the little blue penguins do too, so you can see them both in a day.
Lots of other places besides Oamaru to see these magnificient creatures in New Zealand and Australia too though.

It’s a “Little Penguin. They are sometimes called “Fairy Penguins” or “Little Blue Penguins.”
